For many kids, summer means you get to head off to camp. A unique Bible camp in the Middle East reaches out to Muslim children in that part of the world.
The free month-long camps share the love of God with refugees before they return to their home countries. Nuna with Triumphant Mercy tells Mission Network News that she doesn’t just want them to go back with a head full of knowledge, she wants them to experience God. She says they cherish each one of the kids and want their lives to be forever changed.
The camps teach math, English, and Arabic, but their primary focus is to share Jesus and the Bible. Fun activities like having the kids reenact scenes from the Bible are intended to help them connect with the stories. For example, at one camp they told the story of Lazarus to help kids understand the emotions surrounding losing a friend. Nuna believes reenacting everything brings the stories to life and connects the campers with Jesus who loves them.
Nuna says “Without Jesus or without the Spirit of God opening hearts, nothing can be done.” One little girl had a life changing experience at a Bible Camp held at Easter. At this particular camp there were both Muslim and Christian kids in attendance. The Muslim girl thought she wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone of a different faith. She learned that wasn’t true at the camp. And eventually accepted Jesus into her life.
